Target Corp. has
recently hired a new CIO i.e. Chief Information Officer named Bob Derodes and
simultaneously transferred its in-house payable cards into the highly secured
chip and PIN system with the help of MasterCard Internationals. The company and
its senior officials have planned for these two aforementioned new and
effective steps in the attempt to avoid or check massive data breaches.
Last year, since
the broke in of cyber-criminals during the holiday season at this retail giant
of Minneapolis, it has undergone significant changes in to its information
security systems or information
systems. Thus, since 5th of May, DeRodes started serving his
new role to oversee enhancements related to digital safety within Target Corp. Before
serving his role in Target Corp., he delivered his valuable services as advisor
of Defense secretary and even in departments of Justice and Homeland Security. The
company officials have even said that it had switched its debit and credit RED
cards into the Mastercard’s system from the earlier Visa International’s.
New cards in this
case would possess the capability to store relevant info on more security
systems using embedded chips as well as PINs instead of using magnetic
strips. The company has even planned to make investment of about 100 millions
of dollars to increase its move in the direction of chip and PIN setup. In
fact, Target Corp. has already intended to buffer its overall data security via
resetting of passwords for about 445,000 employees and contractors by disabling
large numbers of accounts held by vendors and reducing the access privileges
for other people.
“After a massive data breach, Target has
made deep changes to its information security systems and has a new CIO. Target
is switching its credit and debit REDcards to MasterCard's system from Visas.
The new cards will store data on a more secure system with embedded chips and
personal identification numbers rather than magnetic strips.” Get a similar type of update from here.
