The Nod, A Full Gesture Control Ring Wearable Tech

The gesture controls tech is now becoming a big area of interest for hardware making startups. The gestures are works on sense technology which will be connected wirelessly with help of NFC or via Bluetooth. For now it is possible to control your TV, computer and even your gaming console through the wave of your hand. The Nod is a device which is capable to give you the power of controlling all of your devices through your hand. The company is the advanced phase of prototyping and backed hugely by several ventures including the Menlo VC and Sequoia to the name of the few and the mountain views company has engineers from Apple, Google, Jawbone, Samsung and some other tech giants.

The Nod says “We came together with the idea of trying to solve something that we think could possibly be the next computing revolution around input,” explained Nod Labs CEO and founder Anush Elangovan in an interview. “We took a step back and looked at how we’ve progressed from plug panels and dip switches to the mouse in the PC era, and then touch in the mobile era, and we were like ‘what’s next?’ Speech has always been one part of it, but speech doesn’t work in a crowded room for example, so the next obvious one is gestures.”

This technology is not expensive and anyone can get this device with a preorder $149 and the shipping will start from the end of the summer. Nod labs will provide an app “discovery portal” to help the hardware to help users to find the particular software of any specific hardware. The device is big enough to wear on you index finger, metal rim with transmission friendly plastic outer case. It comes with the charging cradle that looks bigger than the ring holder.

Record Labels Sued Pandora For Copyright Infringement

Last Thursday was a bad day for music provider Pandora because several record labels according to News sources has filed a lawsuit in which they says that the entertainment and music service must pay royalties and fees for those song which are made before 1972. The labels proposed allegation against Pandora that music streaming service violating the state’s common-law of copyright protections by copy of older playings without taking any permission. According to source Sony, Warner and Universal filed the case in New York state court. There are lots of recordings which Pandora they says playing without any permission including songs from major legend in Rock n Roll between 1940 to early 70 from artist like Beatles, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, James Brown and Rolling stones.

The New York Times Says “Traditional radio stations have a longstanding exemption from paying for recordings, although all kinds of radio outlets — Internet, satellite and old-fashioned AM/FM — pay separate songwriting royalties to music publishers. (In the music world’s complex licensing structure, “on demand” services like Spotify and Rhapsody, which let users pick exactly what songs to listen to, negotiate with record companies directly for a different kind of license, and do not face the same issue with pre-1972 recordings.)”

Pandora Shows Restricted in Counrties

Companies are being sued because of stealing and copying the technologies or innovations from each other like in Apple-Samsung lawsuit, they sued Samsung to copying their iPhone design and rest is left to court, Samsung represents Google to prove that they spend time to actually develop the technology. If court finds anything wrong, it would cost a huge amount to Pandora. Pandora they say they were pretty confidence in its officially authorized. The law was these services must take license to use playing took after 1972, so they pay millions for these songs.

Google exec: We never copied iPhone features for Android

Apple and Samsung fighting in court again for trying to prove that their Operating systems are unique and a Google Executive told jury during the authentication in court. Hiroshi Lockheimer, a Google vice president, addressed the jury and said that engineers have been worked hard to achieve something unique and they never copied anything from apple. It is totally different then iOs, all the Android launches from the beta version to Kitkat have been developed in the Google Facility only. Lockheimer was one of the first witnesses Samsung called in defense against apple. Apple put allegation to copying the features of iPhone and iPads but Samsung has argued that they only responsible for hardware but Google design all of the features first. Apple Filed a report says $2.191 billion business damage.

Dianne Hackborn and Cary Clark are slated to testify about the design, development, and operation of Android, as well as possible alterations made to the operating system. They should specifically talk about features for quick links, or automatically detecting data in messages, that Apple has accused of infringing its patent No. 647. Lockheimer on Friday said he joined Google in April 2006 to work on the Android team. At that time, there were only about 20 to 30 people on the team, and it operated like a startup. Currently, about 600 to 700 people working on Android report to Lockheimer, he said.”

Mark Zuckerberg Forcing all Smartphone Users to Download the Messenger

World’s Well Know CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg is taking a new strategy toward its mobile phone Facebook app. Company announces that they will remove the chat from FB App in iOs and Android but User have to download the messenger to chat from your mobile. Right now the App is included fully featured messaging tab but from now on there will not be any tab on the app anymore. If any people have chat from friends it would have a hotlink which will open the messenger but if you want the message into app you just didn’t download the messenger, which will not be option any more. The European users have got notification about the change and they have few weeks before the actual change will be applied.So all FB Users will have to accept this protocol and makes so many users angry. The only way to be safe from this change by having to low end Android phones.

Facebook said “the other thing that we’re doing with Messenger is making it so once you have the standalone Messenger app, we are actually taking messaging out of the main Facebook app. And the reason why we’re doing that is we found that having it as a second-class thing inside the Facebook app makes it so there’s more friction to replying to messages, so we would rather have peopled be using a more focused experience for that.”

Company wanted to loose the chatting in main app because it makes the app is more vulnerable to hack or Snooping likeNSA did so many times. And FB thinks that the chatting makes its app a little slow and sub optimal overall.
